UUID / GUID & Password Generator
Generate v4 UUIDs and strong, customizable random passwords using your browser’s secure random source.
How the UUID & Password Generator works
Both generators use the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), a cryptographically secure random source, rather than Math.random. Version 4 UUIDs carry 122 random bits, making collisions practically impossible.
Password strength is estimated as entropy: the length multiplied by log₂ of the character pool size. Adding symbols or increasing length raises the entropy and the time needed to brute-force the password.
Formulas used
- Password entropy
bits = length × log₂(pool size)
How to use the UUID & Password Generator in 3 steps
Step 1
Choose UUID or password mode.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a UUID and a GUID?
They are the same 128-bit identifier. GUID is Microsoft’s name for it; UUID is the term used in the RFC 4122 standard.
How long should a strong password be?
Aim for at least 16 characters with mixed case, numbers and symbols, which gives over 100 bits of entropy. A password manager makes long passwords practical.
Are generated passwords stored anywhere?
No. They are created in your browser and are never transmitted or saved.
